paint box opening

Rhode was laughing at me on the rapid complicated dance I have to preform when setting up my easel- Im sure everyone has their own individual way to do it, but this is the order I usually do it in.

I gather this is what you use when you go painting plein air style?

Does that thing hold tubes of paint? And does it have some compartment for holding wet paintings?

I've been thinking I might want to get out a paint in the wilds but realize I don't hardly know where to begin...

hey jesse- yup thats my rig. Ive had it fir a long time so Im not changing, but lately theyve come out with some that are supposed to be way lighter. Thats the problem with that guy is hes super heavy. But it keeps all your paints brushes and knives. I modified the shoulder strap to be one of those bike messenger straps so its still heavy, but is pretty comfy on my shoulder. No wet painting compartment that I know of. I usually just leave the wet guy on there until I get home. The palette on the inside though you can leave the paint on in there. I replaced the stupid wood palette it came with with a nice safety glass palette that you can get at any old art store- its got a white sheet of plastic on the backside and is nice and slick. I dont have an easel at home so I usually use this set up there as well...
thats a great painting you have on your blog right now-

you're a true artist my friend! i'm still looking for a new easel myself. gave the old one (not portable) away with all that moving around....=0)

btw, love those grey tonal soccer studies - looks like you're applying the Hans Bacher knowledge already!

Glad you shared, since I've been planning to buy an easel in the future. I like your layout design, it's like it's transforming on it's own (que tranforming sound). LOL.
